Former US President Donald Trump has announced that Washington is getting close to finalizing a new trade deal with India, signaling a potential breakthrough in bilateral economic relations. He made the statement during a press briefing, highlighting the importance of stronger trade and investment ties between the two nations.
Trump said the proposed agreement would cover key sectors including technology, agriculture, and energy, aiming to boost exports and create more jobs in both countries. He added that negotiators on both sides had made “tremendous progress” in recent months.
According to Trump, the deal is designed to address long-standing trade imbalances while opening markets for American and Indian companies. He emphasized that the agreement would mark a “win-win” for both economies.
Political analysts believe such a deal could strengthen Washington’s influence in South Asia and enhance cooperation with India on strategic and defense matters. It would also reinforce the growing partnership between the two largest democracies.
Indian officials have not yet provided an official response but have previously indicated optimism about improved trade relations with the United States. Talks between both sides are expected to conclude soon.
Observers suggest that if finalized, the trade deal could reshape regional economic ties and set a new precedent for future US-India cooperation in global markets.
