Trump Says Military Option on Iran Still Open Ahead of Nuclear Talks

US President Donald Trump stated that military action against Iran remains “absolutely” possible if Tehran does not halt its nuclear ambitions. His remarks come just days before expected nuclear talks in Oman, where US and Iranian representatives are set to engage, though with conflicting views on the nature of the discussions.

Trump emphasized that while diplomacy is preferred, the United States is prepared to act, with Israel expected to take a leading role in any military operation. “If it requires military, we’re going to have military,” he said, asserting US autonomy in decision-making.

Meanwhile, the US Treasury imposed new sanctions targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, signaling continued pressure. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded by denying any pursuit of nuclear weapons and invited American investment into Iran, a statement he claimed aligned with the stance of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supported the talks but warned that any agreement must ensure Iran never acquires nuclear weapons, citing Libya’s 2003 disarmament as a successful precedent.
