Trump Says Iran Seeks Talks, Terms Still Inadequate

US President Donald Trump indicated that although Iran might be interested in negotiations to ease the ongoing tensions, he is not prepared to reach an agreement at this stage. Speaking about the situation, Trump suggested that Tehran appears open to dialogue, but he dismissed the possibility of a deal for now, saying that the proposed conditions are “not good enough yet.” Iranian authorities, however, quickly rejected the claim and denied showing any willingness to enter such negotiations.

During his remarks, Trump also stated that the US military had “completely destroyed” Kharg Island, which serves as one of Iran’s main oil export terminals. He further stirred controversy by suggesting that the location could be targeted again, even remarking that it could be struck “just for fun.” His comments came at a time when tensions remain high in the region, with Iran continuing to launch missiles toward Israel. According to reports, most of these missiles were intercepted by Israeli air defense systems before causing significant damage.

Trump did not reveal detailed information about possible negotiations or future strategies but emphasized that any potential agreement would require Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions. He stressed that the United States would not support any deal unless Tehran agreed to major restrictions on its nuclear program.

The US president also mentioned that several countries had agreed to assist in maintaining security in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global shipping route for oil exports. However, he did not identify which nations were expected to participate in these efforts.

Addressing concerns about global energy markets, Trump attempted to calm fears over potential oil shortages or rising fuel prices. He argued that global supplies of oil and gas remain abundant and suggested that any disruptions caused by the ongoing tensions would likely be temporary.

Nevertheless, his remarks about possible further strikes on Iranian infrastructure have heightened international concerns and fueled fears that the situation could escalate into a broader regional conflict.
