“We agreed on a lot more than I thought,” Trump told reporters. “We want this city of ours that we love to do very well.” Mamdani called the meeting “productive,” noting that their discussion focused on practical solutions for New Yorkers.
The mayor-elect also addressed recent synagogue protests, condemning the use of religious sites for political demonstrations and affirming his commitment to Jewish community safety.
Federal funding issues remain unresolved. New York City is projected to receive $7.4 billion in federal support for fiscal year 2026, though questions remain about presidential authority to withhold Congress-approved funds.
