Trilateral Talks in Beijing Focus on Regional Peace and Economic Cooperation

Foreign ministers of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan convened in Beijing for the fifth round of trilateral talks aimed at boosting regional connectivity, stability, and economic integration. Pakistan was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside China’s Wang Yi and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The meeting focused on strengthening diplomatic ties, expanding trade, and promoting cooperation in development and infrastructure — particularly through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). All three nations agreed to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan, marking a significant step in regional integration.

A major highlight of the dialogue was the shared commitment to counterterrorism and fostering long-term stability. The ministers emphasized that peace and collaboration between the three countries is crucial for achieving sustainable development in the region.

It was agreed that the next round of the trilateral dialogue will be held in Kabul at a mutually convenient date, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain momentum in regional cooperation.
