Rapper Travis Scott was released without charges on Saturday after being arrested earlier this week in Paris, as confirmed by his representative.

The arrest took place on Friday following an alleged altercation involving Scott, a security guard, and his own bodyguard at the upscale George V hotel in central Paris. French authorities stated, “On August 9, 2024, police officers responded to an incident at the George V hotel and arrested the rapper known as Travis Scott for allegedly assaulting a security guard.”

According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the security guard stepped in to separate Scott from his bodyguard during the confrontation. The case was ultimately closed as the offense was considered “not sufficiently serious,” per the prosecutor’s office.

A source close to Scott told NBC News that the rapper had been “swarmed” by fans and paparazzi during his time in Paris and attributed the incident to his bodyguard’s failure to protect him properly. The resulting altercation with his security team led to his arrest. Scott’s representative indicated that they were working with local authorities “to resolve the matter quickly.”

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was also seen attending the men’s Olympic basketball semifinal on Thursday. His recent arrest in Paris comes shortly after a disorderly intoxication charge in June following an incident in Miami Beach, Florida.
