In a devastating Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis, southern Gaza, nine children of Dr. Hamdi and Dr. Alaa Al-Najjar were killed over the weekend, while their father remains in intensive care, doctors at Nasser Hospital confirmed. Hamdi Al-Najjar, a physician himself, underwent two emergency surgeries for severe injuries, including wounds to his brain, lungs, and abdomen. His condition remains critical.
The sole surviving child, Adam, is reported to be in serious but stable condition. Dr. Alaa Al-Najjar, who was not home during the strike, is treating other war-injured Palestinians at the same hospital where her husband and son receive care. The strike has deeply affected the family and the Gaza community, with relatives expressing grief over the tragic loss.

The Israeli military acknowledged conducting the strike targeting suspects near Israeli soldiers but is reportedly investigating the deaths of uninvolved civilians. Gaza’s health officials report that the ongoing conflict has killed more than 53,000 Palestinians, including over 16,500 children.
This tragedy adds to mounting international calls for accountability, with recent war crimes investigations underway at the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice regarding the conflict in Gaza.
