Traders across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have announced a complete shutter-down strike on April 26 in solidarity with the people of Palestine. The call comes in the wake of continued Israeli military operations in Gaza and mounting civilian casualties.
Mushtaq Ahmed Khalil, Senior Vice President of the Jamiat Business Forum, confirmed that all major trade bodies in the province, including those in Peshawar, have backed the strike. A coordination meeting is set for April 24 in Peshawar to finalise plans, with preparations already in motion for a peaceful protest.

The strike will coincide with a nationwide protest announced by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), whose chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman made the call during a massive pro-Palestine rally in Islamabad. Addressing thousands, Rehman condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide and demanded an immediate ceasefire.
Efforts are also underway to include the transport sector in the strike, while traders continue to promote a boycott of Israeli products through social media platforms.
