Toll Tax Increases Again Third Hike in Seven Months

The National Highways Authority (NHA) has announced a significant increase in toll taxes for the third time this year, effective from January 5, 2025, in a bid to meet its revenue targets.

Toll hikes will be applied on several major routes, including the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1), Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3), Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M4), Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M5), Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla Motorway (M14), and the Mansehra Expressway.

Under the revised toll rates, the following changes are expected:

  • Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M1):
    • Cars: Rs. 460 to Rs. 500
    • Wagons: Rs. 720 to Rs. 750
    • Buses: Rs. 1,300 to Rs. 1,450
    • Trucks: Rs. 1,950 to Rs. 2,300
  • National Highways:
    • Cars: Rs. 50 to Rs. 60
    • Wagons: Rs. 100
    • Buses: Rs. 170 to Rs. 200
    • 2- and 3-axle trucks: Rs. 250
    • Articulated trucks: Rs. 460 to Rs. 500
  • Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3): Cars: Rs. 650 to Rs. 700
  • Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M4): Cars: Rs. 850 to Rs. 950
  • Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M5): Cars: Rs. 1,050 to Rs. 1,100
  • Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla Motorway (M14): Toll tax set at Rs. 600

Additionally, toll rates have increased at locations such as the Kohat Tunnel (N55), Islamabad-Murree-Kohala Highway (N75), and Mianwali Toll Plaza (N135), with commuters now facing higher charges across the board.

This toll increase marks the third hike by the NHA in the past seven months, with toll rates more than doubling during this period. The new rates will take effect from January 5, 2025.
