TikToker Samia Hijab has spoken out for the first time, admitting that her alleged kidnapper, Hassan Zahid, was her former fiancé.
Samia, who recently filed a case against Hassan for kidnapping and issuing death threats, clarified that the man arrested was the same person she had once been engaged to. Her statement followed the circulation of videos showing her with Hassan, which sparked criticism online.
In a video message, she explained that she met Hassan six months ago at a friend’s birthday party, after which he sent her a proposal. Initially hesitant, she considered it when the proposal came through his mother, but made it clear she would only marry after a few years.
According to her, Hassan began pressuring her for marriage and turned violent when she refused. “I ended the engagement and even blocked 28 of his numbers,” she revealed, adding that he threatened to kill her if she didn’t marry him.
Detailing the alleged abduction attempt, Samia said Hassan forced her to go with him, snatched her phone, and tried to drag her into his car. He only released her when a friend warned him about surveillance cameras and the police.
She compared her ordeal to that of her late friend Sana Yousaf, saying, “If I had been killed, people would sympathize, but since I survived, I’m being blamed.” Samia stressed that no man has the right to use violence or coercion against women and reiterated that her relationship with Hassan had ended.
Appealing for understanding, she said she was under severe mental stress and urged people not to pass judgment without knowing the full truth, while expressing hope for justice.
