TikTok has launched a new in-app guided meditation feature designed to help users relax at night and encourage healthier screen time habits. The tool disrupts late-night scrolling with calming exercises to promote better sleep routines.
For users under 18, the feature automatically activates after 10 p.m., replacing the usual content feed with a full-screen prompt offering soft music and breathing guidance. If teens continue using the app, a second reminder appears, urging them to log off and rest.

Adult users can manually enable the feature by setting their preferred “sleep hours” in the app’s Screen Time settings.
This update comes in response to growing concerns about TikTok’s effects on young users, including sleep loss, anxiety, and addictive behavior. Criticism from officials such as D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb has pushed the platform to introduce more wellness and safety tools.
The meditation feature is part of a broader industry shift toward prioritizing user wellbeing, providing a built-in method for users to disconnect and unwind before bed.
