Heavy rains have started impacting several regions of Pakistan, with continuous downpours reported across cities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning, forecasting additional rainfall and snowfall across the country in the coming days.
A tragic incident occurred in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, late at night when the roof of a house collapsed under the weight of accumulated rainwater, killing three children and injuring two others. Local authorities are providing relief and assisting the affected families.
Besides heavy rains, the NDMA has predicted thunderstorms and scattered showers in multiple regions, including Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Snowfall is expected in the higher-altitude and mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, increasing the severity of weather conditions.
The NDMA also predicts cloudy skies for cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, and Chaman, urging residents to stay alert and prepared for unpredictable weather.
Citizens are advised to monitor weather updates, take necessary precautions, and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in areas prone to flooding or landslides due to heavy rain and potential snowfall. Emergency services remain on standby to assist those affected by the ongoing weather disturbances.
