Three additional former army officers detained for violating military discipline

The ongoing court martial proceedings against former ISI Chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed have led to the detention of three more retired army officers. This move is part of a broader investigation into alleged breaches of military discipline and actions perceived as contributing to political instability.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that these officers are under investigation for activities that allegedly violated military conduct and potentially destabilized the country. The ISPR statement highlighted that the detained officers and their associates are suspected of colluding to promote political interests, further complicating the situation.

The investigation follows the August 12 announcement that Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has been placed under military custody. The Pakistan Army has initiated a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) to address the charges against him, stemming from complaints related to the Top City Case. The ISPR emphasized that the proceedings are in compliance with Supreme Court orders, and multiple violations of the Pakistan Army Act by Hameed post-retirement have been identified.

The ongoing court martial aims to determine the full extent of the retired officers’ involvement and address any violations of military discipline.
