Thousands of Sikh Pilgrims Celebrate Baisakhi at Nankana Sahib

The 326th Khalsa birth anniversary and Vaisakhi Mela are being celebrated with great enthusiasm at Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib. Organized under the Evacuee Trust Property Board in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, the event has drawn thousands of Sikh pilgrims from India, Canada, the US, and Europe.

Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf attended the ceremony as the chief guest, along with other key officials including Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and Khel Das Kohistani. Pilgrims praised the arrangements made by Pakistani authorities, with special appreciation for accommodation, medical, and transport services.

The gurdwara has been beautifully decorated, and tight security measures are in place. As per the pilgrimage plan, some groups will visit Kartarpur and Panja Sahib before heading to Lahore’s Gurdwara Dera Sahib on April 17.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz sent their greetings to the Sikh community, highlighting the festival’s message of unity and cultural harmony. They reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to preserving religious heritage and supporting minority communities.

The government also announced new facilities for pilgrims, including upgraded accommodations and stipends for children of Sikh and Hindu communities, emphasizing Pakistan’s efforts to promote religious freedom and peace.
