This £100 Pizza Charges Extra to Remove a Topping — Leaving Brits Outraged!

Norwich Pizzeria Wages War on Pineapple Pizza with £100 Hawaiian

A popular pizza spot in Norwich, England, has stirred up a lighthearted controversy by pricing its Hawaiian pizza at a staggering £100 ($123) to discourage fans of the polarizing topping.

Lupa Pizza, known for its traditional offerings, recently listed a ham-and-pineapple pizza on a food delivery app with a cheeky description: “Yeah, for £100 you can have it. Add the wine to your order! Go on, you scary thing!”

Francis Wolf, co-owner of Lupa, made their stance clear: “We really do not like pineapple on pizza. We feel like it does not suit pizza at all.” Despite their disdain, the pizzeria keeps a can of pineapple on hand, just in case. “So far, no one has ordered it,” added head chef and co-owner Quin Jianoran.

A Divisive Topping

The debate over pineapple on pizza isn’t new, but it continues to spark opinions worldwide. While YouGov, a British polling firm, found that over half of Britons either love or like pineapple on pizza, 16% disliked it, and 20% outright hated it.

Some well-known Brits have weighed in on the controversy. Former politician Ed Balls famously labeled pineapple on pizza as “appalling,” while fans took to Lupa’s social media to defend their beloved topping. Comments ranged from, “Pineapple on pizza is life,” to others appreciating the pizzeria’s bold marketing move, calling it “a great example of harmless marketing.”

Customer Reactions

Customers at Lupa shared varied opinions. Simon Greaves, a 40-year-old builder, declared pineapple on pizza “wrong” and best avoided. On the other hand, 14-year-old Johnny Worsley admitted that Hawaiian pizza ranked as his second favorite after pepperoni but added, “I’m not going to pay a hundred pounds for it. I don’t think anyone will.”

Marketing or Pizza Purism?

Whether it’s a clever marketing stunt or a statement of pizza purism, Lupa Pizza has successfully reignited the timeless debate over pineapple on pizza—leaving diners divided, but definitely amused.
