The US has expressed concern over the Pakistani government's decision to ban PTI

The United States expressed concern on Tuesday regarding Pakistan’s government decision to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller conveyed this concern during a press briefing, addressing the potential ban on PTI.

Miller acknowledged that they have noted the government’s statements regarding the political party ban, viewing it as possibly the initiation of a complex political process. He affirmed that the US will closely monitor these internal developments and subsequent decisions.

Highlighting broader principles, Miller underscored that banning any political party raises concerns as it may infringe upon human rights, freedom of expression, and the peaceful adherence to constitutional and democratic norms. He emphasized that the United States consistently supports democratic processes, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring justice measures are followed.
