The TLP sit-in at Faizabad is causing traffic disruptions in Islamabad

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) initiated a sit-in at Faizabad on July 13, starting from Liaquat Bagh, with three primary demands focusing on providing aid to Palestine and banning Israeli products. Before the sit-in, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had already dispatched eight aid shipments to Palestine, and several Israeli products had been banned.

Despite these actions, the protest has resulted in road blockages, causing significant traffic jams and preventing timely access to hospitals and offices. Citizens have expressed frustration over the unclear purpose of the sit-in, given that the government’s actions have already addressed the stated demands.

Public concerns include:

  • Patients unable to reach hospitals on time
  • Employees struggling to get to offices
  • Ambulances being delayed due to blocked routes
  • All routes from Islamabad to Rawalpindi being closed

Citizens have questioned the necessity of the protest, considering the government’s ongoing support for Palestine and the steps already taken to meet the protesters’ demands.
