Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) Seeks Legal Consultant

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) is expanding its operational capacity by appointing a legal consultant. This position, initially contracted for three years with the potential for a two-year extension based on performance, is pivotal to advancing Pakistan’s National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure and services.

Position Overview:

  • Role: Legal Consultant
  • Contract Duration: Initial three years, extendable for up to two additional years.
  • Scale: MP-II
  • Location: Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Pakistan

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and reviewing legislation relevant to the ICT sector.
  • Providing legal advice to senior officials and offering legal opinions.
  • Evaluating and vetting contracts for the ICT sector.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and the private sector to address legal issues.
  • Organizing workshops and representing the Ministry in legal proceedings nationally and internationally.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Ph.D. in Law from an HEC-recognized university or an LLM with seven years of experience.
  • Experience: At least five years of professional experience in the legal field, preferably with expertise in IT and Telecom law.
  • Additional Requirements: Must be enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court for at least five years. Demonstrated experience in legal drafting, strong communication skills, and the ability to represent the Ministry effectively.

Selection Process:

  1. Application Screening: Conducted by a shortlisting committee approved by the Secretary of IT and Telecom.
  2. Candidate Selection: The selection committee will recommend the top three candidates.
  3. Final Decision: Made by the Prime Minister.

This recruitment aligns with a broader initiative to enhance the performance of various ministries by appointing experts, following the recent hiring of a telecom consultant for MoITT’s telecom wing.
