The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the budget for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be hosted by Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, 2025. This approval was granted on the final day of the ICC’s meetings. The budget, developed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in collaboration with the ICC, was approved after thorough discussions. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi represented Pakistan in these negotiations.
The tournament will take place in three major Pakistani cities: Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. According to the PCB’s proposed schedule, all matches involving the Indian cricket team will be held exclusively in Lahore, a significant decision given the complex geopolitical context. Additionally, the PCB has allocated Rs12.80 billion for the upgrade of three key stadiums: Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, and the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium. This investment aims to ensure these venues meet international standards for the tournament.

While other teams have played in Pakistan in the past, the PCB is optimistic that India will also participate in the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan. The PCB asserts that as the host nation, Pakistan should be the sole venue for all matches, demonstrating its capability and readiness to host the entire event. The ICC’s annual meeting will continue in Colombo from July 19 to 22, where the PCB plans to strongly advocate for hosting all matches in Pakistan, emphasizing the country’s preparedness and commitment to delivering a successful tournament.
