Sindh Govt bans weapons

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]KARACHI: The Sindh government on Friday imposed a three-month ban on carrying and displaying weapons in the province.

The provincial government’s announcement states that the prohibition will take effect right away. It said that this directive will not apply to Police Rangers or law enforcement organisations.

The letter also stated that all police station SHOs have been instructed to file proceedings against anyone found to be in violation of the ban.

According to reports, at least 13 individuals died as a result of street crimes in Karachi last month because locals were still at risk from such criminals.

Earlier this month, the Sindh provincial assembly expressed concern over the law and order situation — including street crime, dacoities and kidnapping for ransom.

Law enforcement officials were criticised by opposition lawmakers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) for their careless participation in reducing criminal activity.

“I was robbed in front of my home. Nobody is secure, either inside or outside “explained MPA Hassan of PTI.

The CM recently met with the inspector general of police and the chief of the Karachi police to discuss concerns about street crime, according to Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani. The CM gave the police clear instructions to keep the situation under control during the sessions

Instances of kidnapping for ransom in the districts of Shikarpur, Ghotki, and Sukkur have been brought to light by GDA’s Shaharyar Mahar. According to him, thefts in small towns and cities, such as those that result in victims losing their motorcycles or cell phones, are on the rise.

“Every time we bring up this issue, the CM makes a pledge to maintain law and order and reduce street crime, but nothing ever materialises. We demand that the government of Sindh either reduce crime or grant the populace permits to possess weapons so they can take safety precautions on their own “added he.

According to Ghani, the provincial government is acting appropriately in coordination with the police and other law enforcement organisations. “I’ll let CM and IGP know about this issue,” he stated.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
