The Power Division has announced the privatization of electricity distribution companies nationwide.
In the initial phase, the privatization will involve the following companies:
- Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO)
- Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO)
- Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO)
- Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO)

The second phase will include the privatization of:
- Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO)
- Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO)
Sources reveal that the privatization effort will eventually extend to all power sector organizations, with directives already issued for twelve entities within the sector. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to reform the power sector and improve efficiency through privatization.
