Germany remains a highly sought-after destination for Pakistanis. Last year, German missions received a record 19,095 visa applications from Pakistani citizens, surpassing applications to other Schengen countries. However, there was a high rejection rate, with 7,370 out of 19,095 applications denied, positioning Pakistan among the top ten nationalities with the highest visa refusal rates from Germany in 2023.

Pakistani nationals also submitted substantial numbers of visa applications to other Schengen countries, including Spain (18,482), Italy (12,390), the Netherlands (11,389), and France (8,225). Overall, nearly 86,700 visa applications from Pakistan were processed for Schengen states, with a rejection rate of approximately 49.6%. Pakistan ranked as the fourth-highest country in terms of visa application rejections for Schengen states.
Despite the high rejection rates, Pakistani nationals spent €3.3 million on visa applications in 2023, the highest expenditure by any nationality.
