The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Islamabad has successfully apprehended two individuals involved in a significant visa fraud operation targeting over 350 victims. Ghulam Murtaza and Anjum Javed, along with their associates, orchestrated a scam promising attractive job opportunities in Greece in exchange for substantial sums of money, amounting to Rs78 million in fraudulent gains. The scam operated by these individuals exploited the aspirations of many Pakistanis seeking better prospects abroad. Despite initially eluding authorities, the FIA’s intensified crackdown on human trafficking and visa fraud led to their arrest during a raid in Islamabad.

This incident underscores the importance of verifying job offers and visa processes through official channels to safeguard against falling prey to such scams. The FIA has repeatedly cautioned the public about the risks associated with fraudulent schemes promising overseas employment or visas.
Recently, the FIA’s efforts in Rawalpindi also resulted in the arrest of Owais Nazir, accused of defrauding an individual of Rs0.63 million by falsely promising employment in Bahrain through Hashmi Overseas Employment on Murree Road. These cases highlight the vulnerabilities faced by individuals in Pakistan amidst economic challenges, prompting many to seek opportunities abroad. Despite ongoing awareness campaigns by immigration authorities, the lure of better prospects continues to be exploited by fraudulent operators, necessitating continued vigilance and caution among prospective migrants.
