Pricing and Features:

The updated Model Y is a long-range all-wheel-drive variant priced at $59,990 in the U.S., making it 25% more expensive than the previous version, which was listed at $47,990.

  • Supervised Full Self-Driving Software is now a standard feature on this version, whereas it was previously available as an optional $8,000 upgrade on earlier Model Y models.

Deliveries and Market Expansion:

  • Deliveries for the new Model Y are scheduled to begin in March.
  • This new variant is the most expensive version in Tesla’s Model Y lineup, even surpassing the cost of the performance version.

New Design and Specifications:

  • The new Model Y features redesigned exteriors, enhanced interior features, and a slightly extended range of 320 miles (515 km) on a single charge.

Impact and Market Position:

  • Launched in 2020, the Model Y became the world’s best-selling car in 2023. However, the aging model experienced a slowdown in sales last year due to rising competition in China and weakened demand for electric vehicles in other regions.

With the release of this updated, premium version, Tesla continues to strengthen its position in the growing electric vehicle market.
