Tehran to Restrict Water as Iran Battles Severe Drought

Iran’s capital, Tehran, is preparing to enforce strict water restrictions as the country faces one of its worst droughts in decades. Authorities have warned that dwindling reservoirs and reduced rainfall are putting the city’s water supply under immense pressure.

Officials said that water rationing schedules will soon be introduced across several districts, mainly affecting households and businesses with high consumption rates. The measure is aimed at preventing a complete depletion of available resources during the dry season.

Meteorological data shows that Iran’s average rainfall has dropped significantly this year, intensifying water shortages across the country’s major cities. The crisis has already begun affecting agriculture and daily life, leading to rising public concern.

Government agencies are urging citizens to conserve water, limit outdoor usage, and report any leaks or wastage. Tehran Municipality has also announced plans to repair aging pipelines and promote water-efficient technologies.

Environmental experts warn that without immediate conservation steps, the capital could face even harsher shortages in the coming months. They stress the need for long-term planning, including improved water management and investment in desalination projects.

The government has assured that emergency measures are in place, but citizens have been cautioned that the situation remains critical until significant rainfall returns.
