Tax Law Expert Zia Haider Passes Away

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Senior tax lawyer and former Punjab Minister of Excise and Taxation, Syed Zia Haider Rizvi, has passed away in Lahore, as announced by his family. His funeral is scheduled to be held on December 30, 2023, after Zuhr prayers at 2:30 pm at Mohammadi Mosque on Hali Road, Gulberg.

Zia Haider Rizvi played a significant role in major tax and allied cases, effectively representing clients before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), High Court, and Supreme Court of Pakistan. He initiated his law education in Pakistan and later specialized in Fiscal, Commercial, Accountancy, and Banking Laws in London.

During the interim period of Malik Meraj Khalid, the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1996-97, Zia Haider Rizvi served as the Minister for Excise and Taxation, Punjab. He held the position of Honorary Consul General of Thailand in Lahore from 1996 to 2005.

In addition to his legal contributions, Zia Haider Rizvi represented Pakistan at the Non-Governmental Organization Conference at the United Nations in New York on various occasions. His passing is a loss to the legal and diplomatic communities, and his contributions will be remembered.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
