Pakistan’s military said several rudimentary drones launched by the Afghan Taliban toward Pakistani territory were successfully intercepted by the country’s armed forces.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the drones were neutralised using both soft and hard kill measures before they could reach their intended targets. However, falling debris from the destroyed drones caused injuries to civilians in different areas.
Two children were injured in Quetta, while one civilian each was hurt in Kohat and Rawalpindi after fragments from the intercepted drones fell in those areas.
The military’s media wing said the attempted drone attacks appeared to be aimed at spreading fear among the civilian population. Officials added that the actions reflected what they described as the “terrorist mindset” driving the Afghan Taliban.
ISPR further stated that while the Taliban continue to portray themselves as victims before the international community, such attacks demonstrate their alleged involvement in targeting innocent Pakistanis through proxies and drone assaults.
Pakistan’s security forces said the nation remains vigilant and fully aware of what they called the Taliban’s true intentions. Authorities emphasised that the country will continue to respond firmly to any threats to its sovereignty.
The military also reiterated that Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq would continue without interruption until Pakistan’s key concerns regarding militant activities from Afghan territory are addressed.
Armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the public and maintaining national security, stating that Pakistan will not be intimidated by such provocations.
