The prime suspect, Muhammad Umar, and his son Ihsan were presented in court on Tuesday in connection with the death of a 14-year-old student who was allegedly tortured at a madrassa in Chaliyar, Khwazakhela earlier this month.

The court granted police a three-day remand for both individuals to allow further investigation.

Earlier the same day, authorities sealed an unregistered seminary in Swat where the alleged abuse occurred. According to District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Umar, the victim was reportedly beaten by teachers before being taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Reports suggest that incidents of physical abuse had been ongoing at the seminary, with several students allegedly subjected to similar violence in recent months.

DPO Umar confirmed the boy died due to a teacher’s alleged assault. He stated that two of the four suspects named in the FIR have been arrested so far, and nine more individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the case.

The authorities have now sealed the seminary, as it was operating without proper registration or legal oversight.
