The case was heard by a two-member bench led by Judge Ijazul Ahsan. The case, submitted by Zahoor Mehdi, asked the Supreme Court to reject President Alvi’s nomination papers.

According to the petitioner, the president’s nomination papers were not properly scrutinised, and Mehdi raised six complaints to Alvi’s nomination documents.

He further stated that Alvi was a “under-trial accused” at the time of the presidential election and hence ineligible for the presidency.

Mehdi went on to say that his presidential election papers were rejected because he lacked an endorser.

He added that the country was currently in trouble as a result of the election of an unqualified president, and that political groups were at conflict with one another.

What political parties are doing, according to Justice Ahsan, is not identical to his case.

He further claimed that his candidature papers were not signed by an endorser, despite the fact that the constitutional requirement was that the endorser be a member of the Majlis-e-Shura (Parliament).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
