Senior journalist and TV host Suhail Warraich has issued an extraordinary public apology following backlash over his controversial column about a Brussels meeting with Army Chief General Asim Munir. The piece, later denied by DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif, had sparked intense criticism.
In his latest column, Warraich admitted fault, writing: “All mistakes are mine; all virtues belong to others.” He extended apologies to several figures, including Fizza Ali, Hamad Azhar, Faisal Vawda, Shahbaz Gill, and DG ISPR Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, acknowledging any offense caused.
The Aik Din Geo Kay Sath host also apologized to PTI members and fellow journalists, stressing that political or professional disagreements should not lead to personal hostility. “If my actions have caused anyone pain, I bow and ask forgiveness. I have no pride, and there is no shame in seeking pardon,” he wrote.
The sweeping apology triggered strong reactions online—many lauded Warraich’s humility, while others speculated about the circumstances behind his statement.
Observers see the move as both an effort at reconciliation and a rare display of personal accountability in Pakistan’s often charged political and media landscape.
