FIA Cybercrime Wing Warns of Rising Cybercrimes Among School Students

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Wing has raised alarms about the increasing involvement of school students in cybercrimes, particularly hacking and defamation. The agency’s concern stems from a troubling trend where students hack into school websites to defame teachers, driven by a lack of awareness regarding the legal and ethical implications of such actions.

Muhammad Amir Nawaz, the Additional Director of FIA Cybercrime Karachi, emphasized the critical role parents play in guiding their children to understand the consequences of cybercrimes. He stated, “Parents must play an active role in guiding their children about the consequences of such actions.” The issue has become more pressing, with over 700 inquiries handled by the Karachi Cybercrime Wing in the last ten months, leading to proven charges against eight individuals.

Despite facing challenges such as a shortage of manpower, Nawaz assured that the FIA is diligently working to resolve these cases promptly. The FIA has urged parents and teachers to remain vigilant and to take proactive steps in educating children on the ethical use of technology.

The rise in cybercrimes among students is a growing concern for educational institutions and individuals alike, underlining the need for greater awareness and guidance to prevent further incidents.
