Strict Security in Place as Pakistan Observes 9th Muharram

Across Pakistan, the 9th of Muharram is being observed with deep religious devotion and under stringent security arrangements. Major cities including Lahore, Islamabad, and areas of South Punjab have implemented comprehensive plans to ensure the safety of mourners participating in the processions.

In Lahore, the central procession is being taken out from Pando Street in Islampura, heading towards Khaima-e-Sadaat. Mobile phone services remain suspended along the procession routes, while all markets in the area have been closed for the day. Authorities are monitoring the procession through Safe City cameras to maintain order and respond swiftly to any incidents.

Islamabad has also tightened security as the main 9th Muharram procession begins at Imam Bargah Asna Ashri. It will return to the same location after completing its route. Around 3,000 personnel from the District Police, Special Branch, and Traffic Police have been deployed. A special traffic plan has also been announced by the Islamabad Traffic Police.

In South Punjab, the most sensitive mourning procession is taking place from Imambargah Mumtazabad. Authorities have adopted strict measures and are maintaining close surveillance throughout the region to ensure peace and safety.
