A seven-month-old baby tragically died after being attacked by a stray dog in Kamiriyan village, Pakpattan. The infant was mauled by the dog inside the family home. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the child succumbed to injuries en route.

Following the attack, local residents caught the dog and killed it in their anger and grief. This incident underscores a broader issue in Pakistan, where dog bite cases are escalating. The National Institute of Health (NIH) reported 5,641 dog bite incidents in just one week, with Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experiencing the highest numbers.
In response to the surge in dog bites, the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) in Karachi has introduced an anti-rabies vaccine called DowRab to better support dog bite victims in Sindh.
