Storms In Punjab Cause Six Deaths, Many Injuries

On Friday night, windstorms and rains struck parts of Punjab, raising the death toll to six. In Rawalpindi and Sialkot, powerful storms resulted in the deaths of at least six people, including two children, and injured several others.

Severe storms with heavy winds and rain caused six fatalities, including four children, and injured over 15 people in the regions of Rawalpindi and Sialkot. In the nearby area of Gujar Khan, three children lost their lives due to storm-related incidents, including roof collapses and falling trees.

Media reports indicated that 14-year-old Ariba died when her house’s roof collapsed in Sangni. Similarly, in Changa Bangyal, two children, 8-year-old Zul Hassan and 9-year-old Haider Abbas, were killed in a roof collapse. More than a dozen injured individuals were taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Among them were 12-year-old Alize and 4-year-old Farhan, who were critically injured and subsequently transferred to Rawalpindi’s DHQ Hospital.

In Sialkot, three people died in separate storm-related incidents. Aqib, 27, succumbed to his injuries. In Bhag, Tehsil Pasrur, 32-year-old Raheel and 12-year-old Muhammad Ali were struck and killed by lightning while cutting fodder in the fields.
