State Bank of Pakistan Launches “Go Cashless” Campaign Ahead of Eidul Adha
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially launched a nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign starting Tuesday, May 20, 2025, to promote digital payments during the busy Eidul Adha sacrificial season. The campaign will run until the night of Eidul Adha, expected around June 7.

Key highlights of the initiative:
- Objective: Facilitate smoother, safer, and more transparent transactions at numerous livestock markets across Pakistan during Eidul Adha.
- Digital Payment Solutions: A variety of digital options will be available for payments related to the purchase of sacrificial animals, essentials such as water and fodder, and market services like parking fees.
- Temporary Increase in Transaction Limits: To accommodate larger transactions digitally, SBP has temporarily raised transaction limits from May 19 to June 15, 2025, making digital payments more convenient for traders and buyers.
- Eid Date Prediction: According to experts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department and astronomers, the Zul Hijjah moon is expected to be sighted on May 28, forecasting Eid-ul-Azha to be observed nationwide on June 7.
This campaign aligns with SBP’s vision to promote a digital economy and reduce reliance on cash, ensuring efficiency and security during one of Pakistan’s busiest festive periods.
