Starlink has encountered another delay in launching its satellite internet services in Pakistan. The company’s temporary registration with the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB) has expired.

The registration was granted on March 21, 2025, but it was not renewed. According to officials, Starlink failed to meet the conditions for permanent registration, which is required before getting a license from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

The PTA has confirmed that it cannot issue an operational license without a permanent registration from PSARB. This has paused Starlink’s plans to offer internet in Pakistan.

The PSARB is currently working with international consultants to draft a full set of rules for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite operations. A final checklist for permanent approval will be released once the policy is complete.

Earlier this year, the PTA had issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Starlink, following instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It was seen as a positive step toward improving digital access in remote areas.

However, until Starlink completes the registration process, the PTA will not move forward with licensing. The company says it is waiting for a clear policy before making further decisions.

In the meantime, Starlink is continuing with its infrastructure setup in Pakistan. But the official launch is now on hold.

IT Minister Shaza Fatima had earlier stated that services could begin by late 2025, but this delay may push the timeline further.

In a major move for regional connectivity, Starlink Launches in Bangladesh to Enhance Reliable Internet Access, aiming to improve digital inclusion in underserved areas.
