Sonya Hussyn Bags Best Actor Award at Russian Film Festival

Pakistani star Sonya Hussaiyn has achieved global acclaim after winning the Best Actor award at a renowned Russian film festival. Her exceptional performance in the Pakistani film Deemak was honoured at the Eurasia Russia Film Festival held in Moscow.

Sonya announced the news on Instagram, writing, “DEEMAK rises again,” and shared her excitement over receiving the Best Actor Award among 35 international films. She added that this achievement represents more than just an award—calling it a reminder that determination and sincerity can turn dreams into reality.

“To every young Pakistani girl questioning her worth, this victory is for you,” she added, thanking the Russian government, festival jury, founder Mr. Nikita, and also expressing gratitude to Pakistan’s government for their support.

Sonya also shared her appreciation after meeting Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, during promotions for Deemak. She highlighted the importance of cooperation with global partners to uplift Pakistani cinema.

During the meeting, she discussed essential topics such as film budgets, international collaborations, and expanding the global footprint of Pakistani films—especially through partnerships with the UK.

“I believe Pakistan must strengthen international ties so our stories can reach a broader worldwide audience,” she said.
