Sohail Ahmed has addressed the controversy that erupted after a segment of his speech went viral online, leading to widespread debate and criticism. The issue began when an incomplete clip surfaced on social media, in which he appeared to say that “Hussain is as popular as Yazid.” The remark, shared without its full context, quickly drew strong reactions from various quarters.

Responding to the backlash, Sohail Ahmed clarified that his statement was part of a broader moral lesson and was never intended to convey any political meaning. He explained that a single sentence from his talk had been taken out of context and circulated in isolation, distorting the actual message he was trying to deliver.
In a video statement, he elaborated that his discussion focused on the idea that popularity alone does not determine righteousness. He noted that both names are widely known, but his intention was to guide young listeners toward understanding the importance of following the path of truth and integrity associated with Hussain, rather than the opposite. According to him, the message was meant to inspire ethical thinking among children, not to provoke controversy.

Ahmed also expressed disappointment that his words were being linked to political narratives and urged people not to misinterpret or politicize his remarks. He reminded audiences to reflect on the deeper meaning of such discussions instead of reacting to short, edited clips.
Meanwhile, journalist Umar Cheema also commented on the matter, noting that the clip—reportedly circulated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf—was widely criticized without proper context. He highlighted that the original video included audience applause, suggesting the statement was positively received at the time. Cheema urged viewers to watch the complete speech before forming opinions, emphasizing the importance of understanding the full context rather than relying on selective excerpts.
