CM Sohail Afridi Confirms No Military Operation Will Be Conducted In KP

Newly elected Sohail Afridi, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has ruled out any military operations in the province. He said such actions are not solutions to regional or national problems.

In his first address to the provincial assembly, Sohail Afridi aligned with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s stance against armed operations. He called for inclusive policymaking and consultation with the provincial government on security matters.

“Military operations are not a solution. Imran Khan is against such moves, and no operation will occur while we are here,” Afridi stated.

He emphasized that decisions about the tribal areas should not be made behind closed doors. Afridi urged national leaders to involve the KP government and local communities when planning security and border policies.

Afghan Policy Review Needed

Afridi stressed the need to review Pakistan’s Afghanistan policy. He said peace and stability in the region depend on mutual understanding. “Tribal people and the KP government must be taken into confidence in all decisions,” he added. He criticized previous governments for mishandling tribal affairs and warned against policies that could stir unrest.

Loyalty To PTI and Imran Khan

The Chief Minister expressed strong loyalty to PTI and Imran Khan, saying, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belongs to Imran Khan, and only he will guide its future.” He highlighted his humble background and explained that his election was meant to address the deprivation felt in tribal districts.

Afridi also thanked former CM Ali Amin Gandapur for supporting Afghan refugees and praised PTI’s social media team as “Pakistan’s biggest establishment.” He paid tribute to slain journalist Arshad Sharif and thanked party leaders, senators, and colleagues for trusting him with the province’s top office.

Sohail Afridi concluded by reiterating his commitment to governance, inclusivity, and peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His address was applauded by PTI lawmakers for its firm stance on security and provincial rights.
