Qualcomm will officially launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 on November 26, according to the company’s Chinese division. The announcement follows its Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii, where Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Full technical details of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 have not yet been revealed. However, Qualcomm described the chip as a mobile platform designed to provide users with flexibility while delivering flagship-level performance. Like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is built on a 3nm process.
Clock speeds differ between the two chips. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5’s prime core is expected to reach up to 3.8GHz, while its performance cores may run up to 3.32GHz. In contrast, the Elite version offers 4.6GHz on its prime core and 3.62GHz on its performance cores.
Initial reports suggested a 1+7 CPU layout for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Recent insights from tipster Digital Chat Station, however, indicate a 2+6 configuration similar to the Elite variant. This setup includes two prime cores and six performance cores.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will also feature the Adreno 840 GPU, although its performance is expected to be slightly lower than the Elite model. Qualcomm has promised to reveal full specifications during the official launch next week.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is designed to offer a balanced combination of high performance and efficiency. It is expected to power upcoming flagship smartphones, delivering smooth performance for gaming, multitasking, and multimedia applications.
