The government of Sindh has announced a new relief package to support citizens affected by rising petrol prices. Under this initiative, motorcycle owners in Sindh will receive Rs2,000 per month. The move aims to reduce the financial burden on daily commuters who rely on bikes for travel.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah shared the details during a press conference in Karachi. He said petrol prices are unlikely to decrease in the near future. Therefore, the government has decided to provide direct financial support instead of controlling prices at fuel stations.
According to officials, the subsidy will be transferred directly to registered motorcycle owners. The process will be quick, with applications expected to be processed within two to three days. Motorcycles will be linked to CNICs to ensure proper verification and transparency.
The government of Sindh has also announced additional measures to support the scheme. Transfer fees for motorcycle ownership will be waived. Riders are encouraged to register their bikes in their own names to qualify for the subsidy. This step is expected to improve record accuracy and prevent misuse.
Authorities said the subsidy will be calculated at Rs100 per litre of fuel. However, a fixed monthly amount of Rs2,000 will be given to each eligible motorcyclist. Payments are expected to begin within 15 days after successful registration.
Alongside support for riders, Sindh has introduced relief for small farmers. The government has set the wheat price at Rs3,500 per maund. It will also provide Rs1,500 per acre to farmers affected by rising diesel costs. This measure aims to support agricultural productivity and reduce financial pressure.
Officials estimate that around two million acres of farmland will benefit from this plan. However, the relief will only be provided to small farmers. Large landowners will not be included in the subsidy program.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said these steps are part of a broader strategy. The goal is to reduce the impact of global fuel price increases on ordinary citizens. Rising fuel costs have affected transport, agriculture, and daily expenses across the province.
