Sindh Government Plans to Initiate Water Sports Project

Zulfiqar Shah, Sindh’s Culture and Tourism Minister, has announced the commencement of water sports activities on a trial basis, signaling a significant move towards transforming the area into a premier tourist spot.

Last June, the Sindh government unveiled ambitious plans to establish a world-class tourist center at Keenjhar Lake, aiming to introduce water sports and paragliding there. This decision was reached during a steering committee meeting chaired by Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh, underscoring the government’s dedication to making Keenjhar Lake an appealing destination for tourists.

Covering an area of 24 square kilometers, Keenjhar Lake provides an ideal setting for the development of a modern resort. Shaikh noted that efforts are underway to identify a suitable location for this resort, emphasizing that its completion will not only enhance the area’s allure but also foster substantial tourism exchange between domestic and international visitors. The proposed tourist center will boast cutting-edge facilities to ensure visitors enjoy a high-quality experience.

The introduction of water sports marks the initial phase of the broader development plan. By initiating these activities, the government aims to attract a steady influx of tourists, laying the groundwork for further investments in infrastructure and amenities.

As the trial phase progresses, gathering feedback from visitors will be vital for refining the facilities and ensuring Keenjhar Lake’s sustained success as a premier tourist destination in Sindh.
