The Sindh government has taken decisive action against the sale of smuggled and substandard fuel by ordering the closure of 176 petrol pumps across the province. The directive comes from the Sindh Home Department, which has sent a letter to commissioners in key regions, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana.
The letter outlines that these petrol stations were involved in the sale of illegal fuel, and it instructs local authorities to seal the facilities immediately and initiate legal proceedings against them. Additionally, the Home Department has emphasized the need to prevent the further distribution of such fuel.

In a bid to improve oversight and ensure compliance with fuel quality standards, the department has also directed the commissioners to digitize all petrol stations in Sindh. This initiative aims to enhance regulation and facilitate better tracking of fuel quality.
A statement from the Home Department highlighted that “no petrol pump will be allowed to sell smuggled fuel in the future,” reinforcing the government’s commitment to combating illegal fuel sales and protecting consumers.
