Sindh Government Orders Crackdown on Transporters Overcharging During Eid

The Sindh government has issued strict orders for a crackdown on transporters charging excessive fares during the upcoming Eid celebrations. The directive aims to protect travelers from being exploited through illegal fare hikes, particularly during the busy holiday period.

In light of rising public concerns, the government has instructed transport authorities to monitor fares closely and take action against violators. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic and provincial commissioners have been tasked with ensuring transporters adhere to fare regulations.

Sindh’s Transport Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing the financial burden on the public during Eid. “We are taking every possible measure to ensure that people are not overcharged,” Memon stated, warning transport owners of fines and legal action if they fail to comply with official fare rates.

Daily inspections will be conducted at bus stations and terminals across the province to enforce the regulations. Passengers are also encouraged to report incidents of overcharging via WhatsApp at 0300-3495375 or by emailing secretarytransportsindh@gmail.com.
