Sindh Decides Crackdown on Quack Doctors

The Sindh government has decided to launch a province-wide crackdown against fake doctors, aiming to curb the growing menace of unqualified medical practitioners operating in various cities, including Karachi.

According to official sources, the decision was made after health authorities received multiple complaints about quack doctors endangering public health by practicing without proper certification or training. These so-called practitioners were reportedly running clinics and dispensing medicines without any medical qualifications.

The provincial health department has now instructed district health officers to compile lists of suspected fake clinics and initiate swift action. A verification drive will also be launched to confirm doctors’ credentials through the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) database.

Officials said that strict penalties will be imposed on anyone found guilty of impersonating a certified medical practitioner. The Sindh government believes this move will not only protect citizens from dangerous treatments but also help restore trust in the healthcare system.

Health experts have long warned that quack doctors pose a serious risk, especially in rural areas where access to certified medical facilities is limited. Many of these unqualified individuals exploit poor communities by offering low-cost but unsafe treatments, often leading to severe complications or loss of life.

This campaign is part of the government’s broader effort to improve healthcare quality and ensure accountability in both public and private sectors. Similar drives in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have led to hundreds of illegal clinics being sealed in recent months.

For more updates on recent government actions, IHC dissolved the Justice Tariq Jahangiri degree case, signaling a push for greater transparency.

In a related development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) recently made headlines after dissolving the case against Justice Tariq Jahangiri regarding his academic degree another example of growing institutional scrutiny across sectors.

The Sindh government has assured that all actions against fake doctors will follow legal procedures, and public awareness campaigns will be launched to help citizens identify qualified professionals.
