Sindh Assembly Members’ Salaries Raised by Almost 200%

The Sindh Assembly committee has approved a sharp rise in provincial lawmakers’ salaries and perks, raising their monthly package from Rs150,000 to Rs430,000 — nearly a 200% hike.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Speaker Owais Qadir Shah, attended by members from PPP, MQM, JI, and PTI-backed legislators.

PPP’s Imtiaz Shaikh said the revision aligns Sindh lawmakers’ pay with other provinces, noting Punjab legislators earn about Rs500,000 monthly.

The committee also approved higher annual and daily allowances, with a separate proposal in progress to revise compensation for the CM, speaker, deputy speaker, ministers, opposition leader, and parliamentary secretaries.

Earlier this month, the assembly unanimously passed a bill to enhance lawmakers’ privileges, covering allowances for housing, utilities, travel, medical, and office expenses.
