Sindh Declares Two Public Holidays for Eid Milad-un-Nabi

The Sindh government has announced September 5 and 6 as public holidays in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

According to a notification issued by the General Administration and Coordination Department, all provincial government offices will remain closed on these dates. However, staff engaged in flood relief, emergency services, and other essential duties will continue to work during the holidays.

This decision follows the federal government’s earlier declaration of September 6 as a nationwide holiday for the 12th of Rabiul Awwal.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had previously confirmed that the moon for Rabiul Awwal was not sighted, thereby setting September 6 as the date for Eid Milad-un-Nabi across Pakistan.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi, known in Arabic as Mawlid al-Nabawi, is celebrated worldwide by Muslims on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar. The occasion is observed with religious gatherings, recitations of naats, and programs reflecting on the life and teachings of the Prophet (PBUH).
