Veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik has confirmed his departure from Karachi Kings ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10), marking the end of his four-season association with the franchise.

Malik’s farewell message read:
“I would like to announce that my time with the [Karachi Kings] has come to an end. It has been a great experience playing for this amazing franchise and teammates.”
He added:
“During my two stints with the team, [Salman Iqbal] and the management have been super accommodating and supportive. Best wishes to you guys. Looking forward to being a part of the PSL Draft for the first time and an exciting season ahead.”

Malik’s PSL Journey

Shoaib Malik is one of the most experienced players in the PSL, having been a fixture in the league since its inception in 2016. Over the course of the nine editions, he has represented Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi. Despite his leadership roles and consistent performances, Malik has yet to win a PSL title, a notable gap in his otherwise illustrious career.

New Chapter for Malik

For the first time in his PSL career, Malik will enter the player draft. Traditionally, Malik had been directly signed by franchises but now faces a new phase in his PSL journey.

Impact on Karachi Kings

Malik’s departure marks a period of transition for Karachi Kings, who have struggled to replicate their title-winning success from the 2020 season. The franchise is undergoing squad changes and management adjustments, with captain Shan Masood and three other players being relegated.

Shoaib Malik’s exit signals a fresh start for both the player and Karachi Kings as they look forward to the upcoming season and potential new ventures in the PSL.
