Shark Tank Pakistan is under fire after reports revealed only 11% of on-air deals were actually finalized. The show, known for spotlighting local entrepreneurs, is now being criticized for failing to deliver on its investment promises.

Tech entrepreneur Ali Swati raised the issue in a recent social media post. He revealed that while his startup did receive funding after his Shark Tank episode, it was not from the show’s investors. Instead, external investors offered better terms, without any involvement from the show’s due diligence process.

Swati claimed that many entrepreneurs went through all formal procedures. They submitted documents and completed reviews, yet the promised funding never came through. He called it a “reality we don’t talk about enough.”

These revelations have sparked debate in Pakistan’s startup community. Many now question the gap between the show’s televised deals and actual investor commitment. Swati’s post has opened the door to wider discussions on trust and transparency in entrepreneurial media platforms.

The controversy also comes at a time when Pakistan’s startup ecosystem is facing serious challenges. Investment has declined sharply due to rising inflation, economic uncertainty, and a weakening currency. This environment makes genuine investor backing more important than ever.

In response to growing frustration, a new business reality show called Bazaar is set to launch in early 2026. Created by ARY Digital Network and PakLaunch, Bazaar promises a more structured approach. It will feature real-time equity exchanges, regulated crowdfunding, and a funding pool managed by its backers.

While Shark Tank helped spotlight entrepreneurs, critics argue it must now rebuild trust. For the startup scene in Pakistan to grow, shows like Shark Tank must move from flashy pitches to real, reliable investments.
