Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has made a confident statement ahead of the upcoming Test series against South Africa, saying that taking 20 wickets will be more important than scoring big runs if Pakistan wants to win.

Speaking to reporters, Shan said the team’s main focus is on winning matches rather than producing high-scoring draws. He added that Pakistan will look to prepare result-oriented pitches that support bowlers and create real competition.

The skipper stressed that in Test cricket, victories come only when bowlers can dismiss the opposition twice. “You can score 500 runs, but if you can’t take 20 wickets, you won’t win,” Shan said. He noted that Pakistan’s bowlers, both pace and spin, have the skills to perform in home conditions.

Masood also mentioned that the series against South Africa is a good chance to build momentum in the World Test Championship and set a strong tone for the upcoming season. He urged players to remain disciplined and patient, especially in handling pressure moments.

The captain hinted that Pakistan might use slightly spin-friendly surfaces, allowing spinners to play a decisive role in the matches. He also praised the team’s recent improvement in fielding and fitness levels, saying that small margins can decide big games.

With the South Africa series approaching, Shan’s remarks reflect a focused and tactical approach. His emphasis on bowling strength suggests that Pakistan aims to dominate through teamwork and smart cricket rather than relying on individual brilliance.
